If we were putting together a ranking of the best months to visit Floripa, this would be one of them. Temperatures begin to climb, with days averaging around 23°C (that’s 73.4°F for our non-metric friends). It does climb up more towards the end of the month.

When the sun begins to go down, so do temperatures. You might still be chilly sometimes because thermometers stay around 15°C (59°F for our non-metric friends). This variation will give you perfect touristing weather for the day, which will be the best for a pleasant dining moment. 

I’d recommend you keep a light jacket or sweater in your bag for the day; like this, you’ll avoid returning to your hotel or turning in early.

Florianópolis weather in September does get a little wetter. But we’re still not into the wet season, so you’re good to enjoy great days. A major bright side is we’re still a ways from summer, so there won’t be sudden rain showers at the end of the day.

As for how we can see rain falling, it’s usually a short shower in a few days. So always remember to check the day’s forecast before going out. Having an umbrella or light rain jacket can be a lifesaver!

But it is not exactly something to worry about; it never rains long enough to ruin your planning. Floripa is in tropical weather, which means balance, so showers are fast and short-lived.

Shop at Local Markets: Raining hours are ideal for browsing stores and markets. I’d say to head to the Public Market downtown, near Hercílio Luz bridge. You will enjoy nice and dry halls and the chance to try a homecooked dish, national fruits, or get some souvenir shopping done.

Visit Museums: Perhaps my favorite way to spend some unplanned time in a new city is to visit one or two museums. It is an excellent way to go deeper into culture and history, plus it’s a talking point for when you go back home. Three of the best-known places in Floripa are the History Museum of Santa Catarina, the Art Museum of Santa Catarina, and the Homem do Sambaqui Museum. 

Get Brazilian Coffee: If you plan to go local, then a way to do that is to head inside one of many available coffee shops. There are few things Brazilians love more than enjoying a nice cup of coffee along with a small snack.

Try a Cooking Class: If you are looking for a more hands-on activity, you may want to try a cooking class. This can be the best way to get shelter, mainly because you will have delicious food to eat by the end of the class.
