April in Floripa is the low-key month that locals love. Milder temperatures attract outdoor lovers who hike, bike, or just explore the lesser-known beaches without the summer buzz.

If you are trying to figure out what the Florianópolis weather in April is like, then you’ve come to the right place! Besides being one of my favorites to enjoy, it is one of the top recommended times of the year to go there.

You can take your pick of stuff to do. You can enjoy one of many great beaches and just bask in the sun, chat with locals, or enjoy the city’s easter festivities; this would be one of my top months to go in. Because summer is just over, you still get to enjoy summer vibes minus extreme heat from some other months.

While I think Floripa is a destination for every month of the year, April is one of the best ones to go if you still want to enjoy warm weather and take advantage of having fewer crowds around.

Florianópolis weather in April gives you the best of every world – still a bit summery but not scorching hot. It is an excellent choice for people looking to avoid extremes, especially relating to extreme crowds that come with summer months.

To be honest, it is my favorite time to go to the beaches without dealing with too many people.

Day hours are the warmest, with temperatures ranging from 22°C to 25°C (that’s 71°F to 77°F). It can occasionally go a little higher.

As for the night hours, it usually cools down a little. Temperatures fall to an average of 15°C to 18°C (59°F to 64°F). This variation gives you great weather to enjoy the beach around midday and then go for a nice stroll on the street. It’s a good thing to have lighter clothing layers in your bag in case you get chilly.

Florianópolis weather in April doesn’t have a lot of rain. It’s the beginning of Fall, so the summer rain is past us. It is one of the drier months of the year, with less than ten days of rain.

As is common in the changing of seasons, weather gets a little confusing, and rain showers can still happen briefly during the late afternoon. I recommend you carry either a small umbrella or a light jacket in case of emergencies.

But never let a little rain get in the way of what you’ve got planned! Because it’s tropical weather, showers are usually short and quite light.

April is the first month after the wet season in Floripa, so the possibility of rain decreases dramatically. The volume of precipitation is usually between 87mm and, extraordinarily, 167mm of rain spread across several days. There are about 5 to 10 days with probability of rainfall.

But it’s nothing to worry about! Bursts are generally short, unlike other places that have day-long drizzling happen. Quick falls are great to break up heat waves and cool you down.

So, yes, there is a lot of rain, but there are many more days with great weather for you to enjoy.

We know rain is not something to be worried about! This is a town full of things to do, even when Florianópolis weather in April gets wetter. Even if the sun hides away.

Here are my favorite activities to do in a rainy Floripa:

Go to the Local Markets: Rainy hours are great for browsing local places like the Public Market or the one in Lagoa da Conceição. This is your moment to discover traditional dishes, try our fruits and veggies, or get souvenirs for your family.

Visit Museums: Visiting a museum is the best way to discover more about Floripa and Santa Catarina. You will find Cruz e Souza Palace near the Public Market. There are many others spread through town about every topic you can think of.

Get Brazilian Coffee: Something that can make you feel even more like a local is to try some of our great coffee. Go inside a coffee shop; there are so many to choose from. Not only do you avoid getting wet, but you also get amazing snacks.

Try a Cooking Class: If you want to get your hands busy with a unique experience, then you should definitely try a cooking class. Not only will you have shelter from bad weather, but you will also work on a delicious dish you can eat at the end.

Spa Day: Sometimes, all you need is a day to rest and relax; if that’s the case for you, then why not a spa day? There are so many options of treatments in town that it will be hard to choose one.

Let’s always remember that the rains here don’t usually last long, so there should be plenty of time for you to enjoy everything. Don’t just stick to your plans; let yourself be free to make the most of your vacation in spite of what may happen.

The month of April is the first full month of fall, so we have a decrease in temperatures. During our daylight hours, we can see thermometers with temperatures from  27°C to 25°C (that’s 80°F to 77°F). It can go higher or lower on occasion, but there won’t be overpowering heatwaves anymore.

When it gets dark, you will feel temperatures cool down to between 21°C to 18°C (69°F to 66°F). So, in order to deal with Florianópolis weather in April, always keep a light sweater or jacket on you to put on if needed.

You should be excited to know that the clouds have a tendency to go away as April goes on. Most days tend to range from partly cloudy to pretty much clear. Remember, clouds move with each passing hour, and each can bring its own surprise.

But keeping your plans in mind, morning has a tendency to begin clear here and then cloud up towards the evening. Mostly because the heat causes sudden rain showers.
Pro Tip: You often have sunshine, even on cloudy days. So I recommend heading to the beach first thing, then plan some other activities for the rest of your day.

April is a tranquil month, and that includes the wind speeds. Other than on the sand strips, you can expect regular winds of up to 16 Km/h (9.9 mph), with extraordinary gusts of up to 20 Km/H (12 mph).

Winds like this are great to undercut some of the heat and mugginess out of the air. Because it tends to be more windy directly by the beach and on the ocean, maybe you want to plan to try out water sports or surfing while you’re here.

Experience Beach Soccer: When you’re at the beach, look for people playing a game of soccer or volleyball and join in the fun! This way, you can meet people while having a great time.

Visit Santo Antônio de Lisboa: This lovely area sits close to the seaside, and it’s a wonderful place to spend a day or two. Take a step back in time to see beautiful architecture, visit galleries, and take in amazing nature. Also, make sure to include enough time to dine in one of the many traditional restaurants here.
