You can choose to enjoy one of many beaches and just lay in the sun, meet other people while on vacation, or enjoy the city’s anniversary festivities; this is one of my top three months to go in. Because summer is coming to an end, you can still enjoy summer vibes without the extreme heat from some other times.

Yes, Floripa is a destination for every day of the year, but March is one of the best moments to go if you want to enjoy warm weather and fewer crowds.

In all honesty, it’s the best time to enjoy beaches without dealing with crowds.

Day hours are the hottest, with thermometers ranging from 26°C to 28°C (that’s 78°F to 82°F). It can occasionally climb a couple of degrees.
As for the nighttime, it usually is a lot cooler. Temperatures fall in the range of 20°C to 23°C (68°F to 73°F). This variation will give you perfect weather to both enjoy the beach and enjoy a nice stroll on the street. It’s a good idea to have lighter clothing items in your bag in case you get chilly.

Although rain is a part of Florianópolis weather in March, it isn’t as frequent or as heavy as in other summer months. It isn’t one of the wetter months of the year, with less than two weeks when rain usually happens.

As is common in these hotter days, tropical rain showers happen briefly as the day winds down. I always have either a small umbrella or a light jacket with me; you should do the same!

But a little rain shouldn’t get in the way of what you have planned! Because of the climate’s nature, rain showers are short-lived and light. Also, this will give you much-needed relief from intense heat on the occasion it happens.

Here are some of my favorite things to do in a rainy Floripa:

Go to the Local Markets: Take this time to go through local markets like the Public Market or the one in Lagoa da Coneceição. It’s your moment to discover our traditional street foods, try some produce, or get souvenirs for everyone.

Visit Museums: There are so many ways to discover a little more about Floripa! Near the Public Market, you can find Cruz e Souza Palace. There are also ones about the state’s history and biological life if that sounds more interesting.

Get Brazilian Coffee: Even when it is a little hot, feel free to come inside one of many coffee shops and try the best coffee in the world. This way, you will avoid getting wet and have some delicious snacks.

Try a Cooking Class: If you’re a foodie who enjoys different experiences, why not go for a cooking class? It’s one of the best types of shelter, especially cause, in the end, you get bragging rights over amazing food.

Spa Day: You might just need a rest day, and in that case, you should head to the spa. Many hotels and establishments here offer spa days and services for you to relax.

Experience Beach Soccer: It is highly likely you will find people happy to welcome you to a soccer game on any beach. This is a nice way to enjoy your time and meet people there.

Visit Santo Antônio de Lisboa: This village is not exactly in town, but it’s well worth the trip to go there! You can take a step back in time through colonial architecture, visit art galleries, and take in the best views. Please include time to have a meal in one of the many traditional seafood restaurants there.

Enjoy Fresh Oysters: Florianópolis weather in March is one of the best times to enjoy. You can head to a place called Ribeirão de Ilha and visit an oyster farm. Take time to learn a little bit about cultivation before eating them straight from the source.
